Marking the launch of the Legacy and Leadership Tour on Tuesday, 3 February 2026. CareerTrackers had the honour of formally welcoming Martin Luther King III to Australia at the Sydney Opera House.

Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony at the Sydney Opera House

The historic event brought together Indigenous leaders, alumni, students, business and government representatives. To celebrate Indigenous excellence and the vital role of economic participation in shaping future opportunities for First Nations Australians.

The morning commenced with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, led by Aunty Barb Simms and Uncle Dean Kelly, followed by a cultural performance and reflections from Indigenous leaders and alumni, including Renee Wootton-Tomlin, Founder & CEO of New Era Energy.

Formal remarks were delivered by Michael McDaniel, Chair of the Sydney Opera House Trust, with closing remarks from Adam Davids, CEO of CareerTrackers.

The Legacy and Leadership Tour connects the global civil rights legacy of the King family with the next generation of First Nations leadership. Highlighting the power of education, mentoring and professional pathways to drive generational change.

This welcome event celebrates not only the achievements of Indigenous professionals. But also CareerTrackers' ongoing mission to create meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across Australia.

The tour is centred on CareerTrackers' Leadership Development Institute (LDI). This brings together Indigenous students and alumni from across the country.

Between 4 and 6 February 2026, Martin Luther King III delivered keynote addresses during the program.
